From Alapocas to Naamans Road, We Know Mid-Century Roofs
North Wilmington is mostly postwar. Alapocas began in the late 1930s, Woodbrook around 1950, and Sharpley, Edenridge and Tavistock in the 1950s and ’60s. In the 19803 ZIP code, the typical home was built around 1960, and about half were built before then. That means many roofs here have been replaced several times, some still sit on original board decking, and many ranches and split-levels have low-pitch sections that leak if they’re shingled like a steep roof. Our North Wilmington DE roofing inspections cover:
- Layer count and decking condition
- Low-pitch sections on ranches and split-levels
- Chimney flashing and crown checks
- Attic ventilation upgrades
- Financing for qualified homeowners

Customer Testimonials
Tales from the Bright Side
What North Wilmington DE Roofing Services Do We Offer?
Bright Side Roofing serves homes and businesses along Concord Pike, Foulk Road, Naamans Road and the neighborhoods between them.
New Roof Installation
Additions, sunrooms and garage conversions roofed as complete GAF systems that tie into your existing roof.
Roof Repair
Chimney leaks, failed boots and low-pitch sections that leak are the most common problems we find on mid-century homes. We also repair natural slate and cedar shake roofs on older Colonials and Tudors.
Complete Roof Replacement
If your roof already has two layers, a new roof means a full tear-off. We remove everything to the deck and replace bad boards. If your shingles are aging but still sound, roof rejuvenation can restore flexibility and buy you more time before a replacement.
Siding Repair and Installation
If the siding on your mid-century home is cracked, loose or worn out, we repair the damaged panels or install new siding, matching color and style as closely as possible.
Commercial Roofing
Offices, retail along Concord Pike and other low-slope commercial roofs.
Seamless Gutter Installation
Replacing old sectional gutters with seamless ones reduces leaks at the seams and protects basements.
Wind and Tornado Damage Repair
High winds can strip shingles off mid-century ranch roofs and bring down limbs from mature street trees. After wind or tornado damage, we repair your North Wilmington roof and document it with photos you can share with your insurer.
EVERY ROOF HELPS A VETERAN
Every new roof sold contributes $250 toward free veteran home repairs.
Which Roofing Materials Fit North Wilmington Homes?
Colonials, ranches and split-levels each have their own needs. These are our most common recommendations:
Architectural Shingles
GAF Timberline HDZ® and UHDZ® for most homes. If your stone Colonial still has real slate or cedar, we can repair it; if it’s time to replace, Camelot® II or Slateline® give a slate look.
Metal Roofing
Standing-seam metal works well on low-pitch porches and additions; GAF TimberSteel™ for a full metal roof.
Flat and Low-Slope Roofing
Shallow ranch and split-level sections, carports and flat additions need a membrane, not shingles.
Flexible Financing for Your Roofing Project
Qualified North Wilmington homeowners can spread the cost of a new roof over time.
- 12 Months Same-As-Cash (SAC) *for qualified homeowners*
- Financing plans up to 84 months
- Convenient monthly payment options
- Fast and simple application process

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in North Wilmington?
Most of North Wilmington is unincorporated Brandywine Hundred, where New Castle County generally does not require a permit to replace roof shingles on a house unless more than 25% of the sheathing is replaced. If your home is inside City of Wilmington limits, the City’s rules apply instead. We confirm which applies during the estimate.
Can you put a new roof over my old one?
Usually not. Building code generally allows no more than two layers of asphalt shingles, and many North Wilmington homes have already been re-roofed. A full tear-off also lets us check and repair the decking.
Why does the low part of my roof keep leaking?
Shingles need enough slope to shed water. Low-pitch sections on ranches, split-levels, porches and additions often need a membrane or special underlayment instead.
What if you find rotted boards under my shingles?
Older homes often have plank decking. We note likely decking work in your estimate and show you photos of any boards that need replacing.
Do you fix chimney leaks?
Yes. Chimney flashing is one of the most common leak points on older homes. We replace step and counter flashing and recommend masonry repairs if the chimney needs them.
How much does a new roof cost in North Wilmington?
It depends on roof size, pitch, layers to remove, decking condition and the shingle line. After a free inspection we give you a written estimate.
What should I do after high winds damage my North Wilmington roof?
Look for shingles in the yard, exposed roof boards or new ceiling stains, but don’t climb onto the roof yourself. Call us for an inspection. We’ll repair the damage and document it with photos you can share with your insurer.
